Amanda L. Barnes Honored for Accomplishments in Microbiology
Amanda L. Barnes quickly gains recognition at Universal Laboratories


HAMPTON, VA, March 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amanda L. Barnes, Supervisor of the Department of Wet Chemistry for Universal Laboratories, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of microbiology.

It is with high esteem that Amanda L. Barnes now approaches her eighth year in the field of microbiology. As the Supervisor for the Department of Wet Chemistry for Universal Laboratories, Ms. Barnes oversees the testing of drinking water, wastewater, soils and environmental samples for inorganic components. Ms. Barnes also demonstrates leadership in her role, assuming responsibility for the delegation of the departmental workload.

Ms. Barnes became involved in her profession through her desire to protect the environment, specifically through the enforcement of EPA guidelines. Just three years after joining Universal Laboratories, Ms. Barnes' dedication and hard work paid off and she was promoted to her current position. She admits that without the encouragement and support from her boss and coworkers, she would not enjoy the success she has today. Looking forward, Ms. Barnes intends to pursue a master's degree in environmental science, as well as remain active with The Nature Conservancy, Ocean Conservancy and Defenders of Wildlife.

Ms. Barnes holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Old Dominion University, earned in 2002. She is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science and Beta Beta Beta.
