Damon P. Tobin Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Damon P. Tobin follows in familial footsteps as leader in Emergency Services and Fire Protection


HIGH POINT, NC, March 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Damon P. Tobin, Captain II for the Fire Department in the City of High Point, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in fire prevention.

Inspired to follow in his father's footsteps as a public servant, Damon P. Tobin entered the Fire Service over 24 years ago. In his early beginnings as a volunteer at Deep River Fire Protection Association; he became a career Fire Fighter with the City of High Point. The majority of his career he has been assigned to Headquarters Station in the downtown district. Earning a degree in fire science technology, Mr. Tobin became specialized in the area of Hazardous Material Response, Interior Structural Fire Fighting, Specialty Teams and Emergency Medical Service. He now draws upon this knowledge for the purposes of public education and training members of the fire department and firefighters within the State of North Carolina as a North Carolina Fire Service Instructor. His professional excellence and steadfast commitment to his community was honored in a feature by Fire Engineering magazine in 2008 with his article on "Back to Basics" published by the Penwell Publishing Company.

Mr. Tobin credits his success to date to his educational background and the support of his family. He takes pride in his ability to respond in emergency situations and hopes to qualify for a shift supervisor position (Battalion Chief) before he retires. In addition to an associate's degree in Fire Science Technology, Mr. Tobin holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He is a certified Level I Fire Inspector, a certified emergency medical technician and a certified fire service instructor and maintains active affiliation with the International Association of Dive Rescue Specialists. He maintains his certification as a Public Safety Diver through Dive Rescue International in Ft. Collins, CO. He enjoys Scuba Diving both in Recreation and in Public Service. He is a Training Officer for the Guilford County Water Rescue Team. Damon earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
