Gyongyi Szabo, MD, Ph.D., Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Dr. Gyongyi Szabo received the Women of Achievement Award in Science and Medicine from the University of Massachusetts
WORCESTER, MA, September 7, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Gyongyi Szabo, Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Science, Director of Hepatology and Liver Center, and Director of the MD and Ph.D. Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in health care education.
At her current post, Dr. Szabo is in charge of conducting research on Hepatitis C and alcoholic liver disease. She earned her Doctorate at Semmelweis University in Budapest, her Ph.D. at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and her MD at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. A recipient of the Women of Achievement Award in Science and Medicine from the University of Massachusetts, she sits on the scientific program committee for the Research Society on Alcoholism, and is a meeting coordinator for the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Szabo is a member of the Society for Leukocyte Biology, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the American Association of Immunologists. She attributes her success to the support she receives from her family and mentors.
