Cambridge Who's Who Names Dr. Hugh Owen Professional of the Year in Pharmacy Management
Hugh Owen, M.S., Pharm.D., celebrates more than 35 years of dedication to his field

YOUNGSTOWN, OH, November 17, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hugh Owen, Pharmacist for Valley Care Health Northside Campus Pharmacy, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Pharmacy Management. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Dr. Owen has 35 years of professional experience and has worked as a pharmacist for Valley Care Health Northside Campus Pharmacy for 12 years. He oversees the clinical coverage and order entries during the midnight shift. Additionally, he handles the formulary work, making sure that prescriptions meet particular standards. He also serves as a board member for the institutional review board. In 1983, Dr. Owen was directly involved in opening and staffing the second critical care pharmacy in Michigan at the Henry Ford Hospital. Between 1969 and 1973, he served in the U.S. Navy, where he ran a dispensary in Virginia Beach and managed the pharmaceutical stock ordering at Camp Lejeune. In 1987, he had an article published in Hospital Pharmacy Journal.

Obtaining his Doctor of Pharmacy from The Ohio State University in 2008, Dr. Owen also holds a Master of Science in pharmacy from Wayne State University, which he earned in 1985, and a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from Ferris State University. Moreover, Dr. Owen was one of 200 to complete a leadership program at the Pharmacy Leadership Institute at Boston University. He is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
