Dr. John M. Thompson Named a VIP Member by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Geriatrics

WASHINGTON, DC, November 9, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. John M. Thompson, Executive Director for the District of Columbia Office on Aging, has been recognized as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in geriatrics.

Holding 12 years of experience, Dr. Thompson is no stranger to the D.C. Office on Aging as he previously served as the supervisory public health analyst for the agency's Aging and Disability Resource Center from 2008 until 2010. In his current title, he is responsible for overseeing human services agencies and systems for the aging. He also serves as the public policy committee chair and board member at large for the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems; a board member for the District of Columbia Center for Independent Living; and an advisor for the Geriatric Resources for Assessment and Care of Elders.

In recognition of his work, Dr. Thompson was recently named a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a Minor in Psychology, from the University of South Carolina Columbia, followed with an MBA and a Master of Arts in Health Services Management from Webster University. Additionally, he earned a Ph.D. in Health Services from Walden University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Medical Administrators.
