Cambridge Who's Who Names Catherine L. Root Professional of the Year in Business Management
Catherine Root is a multifaceted executive who began her career in software development

FREDERICKSBURG, VA, December 8, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Catherine L. Root, Vice President of the Federal Civilian Department of ACS, A Xerox Company, has been has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Business Management. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Ms. Root has served as a vice president of ACS, A Xerox Company, for four years, and has accrued 25 years of professional experience overall. In her current executive position, she oversees operational programs, profit and loss, and new business development. She also manages the Treasury Direct Express Program, which serves people who receive federal government benefits through the Direct Express debit card. Furthermore, she works with the U.S. Department of Treasury, Social Security Administration, Veterans Administration, U.S. Department of Labor, Railroad Retirement Board and the Office of Personnel Management. In addition, she recruits talent for the business management organization.

After beginning her career in the software development arena, Ms. Root found her niche as an executive at Lockheed Martin. The highlight of her career, she says, was landing a project for ACS that allowed her to hire 1,200 people in 2010. When the project was completed, it yielded more than $3 million in revenue in a two-week period of time. She attributes her success to her perseverance and work ethic, and is proud of her ability to collaborate.

Ms. Root is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in business management, with a concentration in finance and acquisition, from the University of Phoenix. Her professional affiliations include the American Public Transportation Association, Payment Card Industry Network and Women's Executive Talent Network. She has received numerous awards throughout her career, with the most recent being President's Club Awards for leadership excellence and for exceeding business goals. In the years to come, Ms. Root hopes to experience continued professional growth while providing efficient and effective services to federal government clients.
