Dr. Kassar-Juma has dedicated more than three decades to her profession

LOMA LINDA, CA, December 27, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wafa Kassar-Juma, Director of Medical Safety and Pharmacovigilance for Valeant Pharmaceuticals, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in clinical safety and pharmacovigilance.

With a professional history dating back an impressive 33 years, Dr. Kassar-Juma serves as director of medical safety and pharmacovigilance for Valeant Pharmaceuticals. She uses her expertise to assess and analyze adverse events that occur with patients in clinical trials and post marketed studies. In addition, she analyzes and coordinates all adverse events in the areas of neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, infectious diseases, and gastroenterology. Moreover, Dr. Kassar-Juma reviews and analyzes annual safety reports, and responds to safety questions from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Kassar-Juma, who was born in London, lived in Iraq where she earned a medical degree at the University of Baghdad. She then moved with her family back to London to escape the war and pursued a career in the clinical research field. She moved to the United States in 2000.

Dr. Kassar-Juma is a member of a safety and pharmacovigilance group and a former member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and Drug Information Association. Looking ahead, she intends to broaden her knowledge and advance her career in the field of medical safety.
